Transforming Latin American culture: from savers to investors

Stock market investments are the world’s largest source of wealth.

The Beginnings

After more than a decade advising high net worth clients in Latin America, Juan Lorenzo Santos noticed during his travels that many individuals felt excluded from investing, often due to the perception that significant capital was required and the presence of cultural barriers. Recognizing that accessible investment opportunities are key to building wealth, Juan Lorenzo founded Folionet in 2014 to break down these obstacles by offering investment accounts to the mass affluent.

Passionate about investor education, he continues to support new investors through regular lectures and seminars, furthering Folionet’s mission to shift mindsets from saving to investing.

The Journey

It is extremely difficult to break down cultural barriers. While in the U.S. stock market investments are familiar to most people, in Latin America only a very small group participates. Fortunately, we have seen significant progress recently.

At Folionet, we have identified that Latin American investors value a close and personalized approach, even when supported by modern digital tools. Knowing that the world of investing is complex and involves risks, it is always timely to reaffirm to them that long-term success in the stock market is indisputable.

At Folionet, we recognize that Latin American investors prefer personalized relationships alongside modern digital solutions. While acknowledging the complexities and risks inherent in investing, we consistently reassure our clients that time and patience are the greatest keys to success.

The Institution

The US is the leading destination for capital transfers from Latin America. For decades, the U.S. financial system and its capital markets have provided a robust, liquid, and highly regulated environment. This has consistently made the U.S. a safe haven for Latin American wealth. In the past decade alone, retail capital transfers from the region have approached $1 trillion, underscoring the enduring trust Latin Americans place in the U.S. market.

Today, after more than a decade, Folionet Holdings Inc. encompasses several U.S.-registered entities based in Miami, Florida. These include a securities broker-dealer regulated by FINRA and the SEC, a Florida State Registered Investment Advisor, and two fintech subsidiaries. While our clients span more than 60 countries, our primary focus remains on serving Latin Americans with investable assets ranging from $5,000 to $250,000.

Our Mission

To empower Latin American investors to access and navigate U.S. capital markets by breaking down cultural barriers and providing expert guidance, integrity, and personalized support.

Our Values

We are committed to building trust with Latin American investors through transparency, respect, and a relentless dedication to ethical practices, always placing our clients’ interests at the center of every decision.
